A Whole Lot of Nothing…

Hi Everyone!

It’s been a little over a week since I’ve written, and I should update you on what’s been going on here in Hanoi, Vietnam.

There’s not much new news since last week. I’ve fallen into a daily routine, which doesn’t change much, and I’ve already seen as much of Hanoi as there is to see. Most of my time is spent trying to repair my technology so I can get back to work. I’ve posted the few important items into their own blog posts for easier reference.

Read through them, and please posts some comments.

Take Care!
Dan Harley, Jr.

Hey Old Pard!! From Tom And Laura

Laura and I were completely blown away by the news of your wedding, and the interesting events leading up to that moment. We are so very happy for you both Dan. You are a stellar person and a great friend. We love you man!! Congats to both of you!!

I was completely amazed at the photos. Talk about awesome! The one with you playing the Guitar for Ha...whom, by the way, looked smashing my friend, was definately a side of you I have never seen. If I hadn't of known you for the previous 8 or 9 years, I would have laid down a Benjamin that the photo was a "Vacation in Hawaii" ad in a magazine, and you were Don Ho!! HAHA. Just top knotch photography. We enjoyed it, and dude, you were smokin' in the suits you were wearing!

Dan, we are so happy for you man. I read your entries about how you had to adjust to your country's customs and unique ways. You just experienced a wedding gift that you probably never would have experienced if fate had not have brought you and Ha together. I experienced it with you my friend and I laughed with you too, but I was very interested in the customs you were writing about and I thought "What a wonderful thing for Dan" and I believe I was feeling your joy and your challenges. As for the photographer that overstayed his welcome, tell him not to be disheartened, for there is still the technology of wireless hidden video, directional sound sensing equipment, and digital recording. Pair that with some know-how and proper motivation, he could still get those more difficult shots he seemed determined to get before you leave for the United States. It could even turn a few bucks if one knows the people and avenues HAHAHA.

You and I have talked over the years about women. I remember a time when marriage wasn't high on your list dude. I figured if any women could get you to settle down, it would be one wearing next to nothing, and whatever was left, you would be shoving a dollar bill into while she danced to the 80's smash hit "Brass in Pocket" by The Pretenders as you polish off your 5th pitcher of Coors Light for $10.50 a piece ($12.50 if wanted in clean pitcher) so your marriage to Ha represents the end of your long search, the thing we all wish we find someday no matter how much we guys tend to bullshit ourselves that we don't.

Dan, your one lucky guy. I happen to be one too because I have Laura. Still, I was looking at a happier and obviously changed man. You were an excellent person before, but you can tell when a friend is content with life. You're looking quite well and I wish I could have been there Dan. You know that you and I would have drank a lot of the family booze. HAHA!!

Ohh, and thanks for the pictures of the food there. I'm not completely sure, but I'll go out on a limb and say that one or two pictures were of what may or may not be...a Hamburger? accompanied by either a very clumpy order of rubber-band thin onion rings or some fried sea-dwelling creature that resembles the first. If thats the asian versian of the Whopper, than someone is not getting it "Thier Way" I guess.

Just kidding my friend. Congratulations to you and Ha. We send our well wishes and best regards to your Father and we hope for his continued improvement. Also Tell your mother we said hello too. She is a sweet lady.

I'll message you when I see you online, but keep writing because your good at it. Tell me more about your new inlaws and keep writing about the cultural adventure your experiencing as seen through the eyes of a Southwest U.S. Mojave Desert dweller who took me and my girl to enjoy, for the first time ever, the wonders of the "Fat Burger" and the 2 pound bucket-o-fries. Ohh man that was good wasn't it?

We both love you Dan. God smiles upon you and those that call you friend. Peace to you both.
